Indoor Summer Garden - Lettuce in a Cup

It is time to bring the garden inside!!!

Summer is here and we all feel it including the plants..

Unfortunately it becomes pretty much impossible to grow our greens outside.   Temps are in the 90's and the humidity is climbing.

How do we bring the plants inside and grow them?

I think there are many different ways you could do this and just like gardening outdoors, try your ideas until you find what works for you.

What is working for us?

I call this "Lettuce in a Cup"

This is working out great! Its growing well, it stays in the cup and we cut it as we need it.  We can add a little to our tacos or maybe a few leaves to add to a burger or make a salad.   You can use it however you see fit.

Its requirements are:

* Water. I use a hydroponics water nutrient. I keep the cups in a shoe bucket.  The bucket will hold 6 cups.  I keep a small amount of water in the shoe bucket.   I have holes drilled in the bottom of the cup to absorb the water.

*Bright Light. I am using a nice bright led light.  If you get enough light from a window I would assume that would work.

*Air flow. Ours is next to a ceiling fan so it is getting a breeze.

*Temperature - we are currently having some ac issues and redoing the ac so its pretty warm in the house.   Upper 80's but so far our "Lettuce in a Cup"   seems to be doing fine in these conditions.

Happy Indoor Gardening!!!
